Mr. Kumar Ketkar, the current Chief Editor of Marathi newspaper Loksatta, has written this book with the same title about India's ex-Prime Minister Late Mrs. Indira Gandhi. It was first published in 1977 and became a instant hit because Mr. Ketkar has ferociously defended the politics of Mrs. Indira Gandhi. In fact, ever since the publication of this book, Mr. Ketkar prominently came to be identified as 'Indira-Premi' in the literary world. This book became instantly famous also because it was in 1977 itself Mrs. Indira Gandhi had restored democracy in India after imposing emergency for over 2 years from 1975 onward. It was in the parliamentary elections of 1977 itself, Mrs. Gandhi had faced a major defeat and the Congress party was virtually routed in the elections. The Janata Party had won the elections with a landslide victory. I hold the credit of translating this book from Marathi to Hindi way back in 1989. Without any prior experience of doing any translations whatsoever, for a 22 years old boy like me then, making a successful attempt of translating a complex book such as this one with all its vigourous language written by an accomplished author like Mr. Kumar Ketkar, in a relatively soft language like Hindi was like a first year MBBS student successfully attempting a bypass surgery and then being appreciated by a prominent man like Late Dr. Neetu Mandke. This JPG file is a hand-written certificate issued to me by Mr. Kumar Ketkar for the awesome effort undertaken by me without any formal knowledge of the Hindi language during those days.
