Tuesday 28 June 2011
This film is about the life of a mentally retarded daughter of a retired army brigadier who is also a very wealthy man. The brigadier takes care of his daughter for all her life but gets baffled when he discovers that his daughter has become a fully grown-up woman. Once, while he is absent at home, the husband of his daughter's governess, who is also a notorious criminal enters the house after finishing his jail term and rapes this mentally retarded daughter. After being introduced to the sesual pleasures, this girl then starts attempting the same from every other male member of the family. Helpless before the circumstances, the brigadier, based on a serious suggestion made by his psychiatrist friend, then persuades his estate manager, a young boy in his mid 20s to marry with her and in lieu offers all his estate to him. On the day of the wedding, he goes to talk with his daughter with tears in his eyes to explain her what sacred moment has finally arrived in her life. Right during that conversation, this mentally retarded girl, demands a sexual relationship from her father. Utterly shocked by this demand, in the same frenzy of trying to control her, the briagadier kills her by strangling her neck. Then he calmly walks down on the ground floor of his spacious bungalow where the preparations for the wedding are on. Everybody present there feels shocked to see the Brigadier coming down with a bare chest but he approaches the telephone and dials the number 100 and informs the police about what he has done. The last dialogue, before the police arrive, is, 'It was foolish for us to expect that she would understand the sacred relationship of a husband and wife after going through a day-long wedding if she could not understand how noble is the relationship of a father and a daughter even after spending 20 years with father. I have finally found the answer of a question that had left all of us without any' and hence is the name of the film 'NIRUTTAR'. The roles of Brigadier and his psychiatrist friend are played by equally competent actors Mr. Mohan Joshi and Dr. Girish Oak respectively.
